The U16 Black Girls completed their season in the semi-finals of the the USYSA National Tournament and captured the bronze medal. They lost 0-1 to Carlsbad on a penalty kick in the OT period. Carlsbad eventually moved on to win Nationals. The girls rebounded from their lost to Sunrise in the FYSA state cup. They went to regionals and won 6 straight games to qualify for nationals.
"Florida Krush U16 girls played with heart and passion but came up a little short. Playing so tough in a double overtime loss to So Cal 0-1. So Cal scored on a PK in overtime. Heartbreaking, but an incredible experience for these gifted young ladies. These young ladies represented themselves, their family, our club and our state of Florida with pure class. As coaches, we could not be more proud.", commented by Soccer Director, Joe Avallone.
Hue Menzies, U16 Head Coach added, "The girls represented FKK, the state and the region with respect. We showed the country that we have developed players that can compete with the top clubs throughout the year. I am so proud of these girls' accomplishment."
On behalf of the FKK organization, we want to congratulate the team and hope that they have set the standards for other teams in the club to follow. It shows that hard work on and off the field dedication does prevail.
