FKK Sharing Expertise Overseas

FKK's own Hue Menzies and University of Florida's Vic Campbell were both invited by the Bahamian Football Association to share their expertise with local high school coaches on engaging their players in the US college recruiting process.  Read about the experience here in The Nassau GuardianWriter: Randy Smith & Photo: Torrell Glinton

Key take-aways from the session:

  1. The recruitment process is starting earlier - identification as early as the 8th grade - and it's because recruiting good players has become very competitive at the higher levels of play.
  2. It is important to be well-rounded if players are serious about college recruitment - "We like to use the 5-pillar system when evaluating players. The five pillars are academics, the social aspect, the geographic, the financial aspect and then football.  Football is last because if you get injured, you stall want to go to school.  If you're not playing enough, you still want to be happy off the field.  A lot of people try and flip the pillars, and we have to change that idea of thinking," said Hue Menzies.
