Florida Krush Opens it's Sixth WPSL Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OVIEDO, FL - MAY 31, 2019The Florida Krush, a member of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) will open its season this Saturday and Sunday against the Puerto Rico Pride and FC Surge. Entering its sixth season in the WPSL, the Krush will begin by facing off against the Pride, who last season fell to the Krush by a remarkable 15 goal margin.

The Krush will be looking to expand on the success they found at the end of the 2018 season as they won 4 of the last five games they played outscoring their opponents 29-2. The Krush will be missing key players from last season, however, with the likes of Konya Plummer and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw now representing Jamaica in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

With head coach Hue Menzies also missing for the 2019 season as he coaches Jamaica in the World Cup, Mark Hansen will be stepping in to lead the Krush. “This will be a fun season,” said Hansen. “With the likes of Shaw and Plummer now playing on the World’s biggest stage, it will be up to some of our new players to step up and show what they can do.”

The Krush will kickoff the 2019 season with an away matchup against the Puerto Rico Pride FC at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 1st and then turnaround the next day to face FC Surge at 12:00 PM at Trinity Preparatory School, the home field for the Florida Krush. There will be no charge for admission at all home games for the Krush this year.
