SCHEDULE:
Host Families will have their EVN students on the weekend(s) to do whatever you want! They love doing normal family things like running errands, going to your kid’s games, etc — you can show them what you’d like to show them about Florida, but the will also let you know what they are curious about.
During the week — Monday thru Friday, the each family will have a drop-off location that is convenient to your home. There will be other families that will share that same location (ie: Publix parking lot, Wawa, Chick Fil A, etc). You will drop them off in the early morning so you can go about your day for work/school. The EVN vans pick up the kids and go do their planned event for that day.
In the evening — the pickup location will be the same place. But because of practices, works schedules, and what the EVN students are doing that night, it could change and the EVN staff is very flexible. They can meet you at the fields or somewhere you need your EVN students need to be dropped off to you. It’s flexible and organized!

FAQs
How will we meet and how will I know who they are?
They will be flying into Ft. Lauderdale, then driving up to Orlando in large passenger vans. We will all meet at the Sam’s Club on HWY 50 on Friday evening. They will have already reached out to you via email with a bio and picture, so you will have some idea of what they look like. And they will ask you for a pic and description of your family.
The FKK coordinator will be at Sam’s Club and will make sure each Host Family meets their EVN students.
Can they speak English?
Yes! Some speak very well, some need help. They love the opportunity to practice their English with us.
What will we do with them for 8 days?
There is so much to do in Florida and we are lucky to have the weather to host them and be outside. Below are activities many families have done in the past. You do not need to take them to the theme parks (unless you want to)… they truly love just doing some of the normal things you all do as a family on weekends — like going to Publix/Target; going to our own FKK soccer games, playing outside, playing board games, etc.
The beaches, canoeing, surf lessons, paintball, bowling, Space Coast, movies, Fun Spot, go karts, shopping, Magic games, Orlando City Games, strawberry picking, UCF Basketball games…
What do they eat?
Just about anything! They are pretty healthy, so having fresh fruit around is good. Once they email you, you can ask them any favorites or food they would like to try. They are usually very open minded about trying new foods.
Can they sleep together in the same room or bed?
Yes, they can share a room/bed/air mattress. Whatever you feel comfortable with and enough to give you and them some privacy.
Are they okay with pets?
On a host family form we will have you fill out — we ask if you have any pets. The EVN staff makes sure whoever they pair up with you likes pets and is not allergic to anything.
Do we pay for everything?
That is really up to you… for meals to restaurants, the host family usually pays for the meals. For expensive outings, such as Magic or Orlando City games — it’s up to you. The EVN students do come with money and usually have ample amounts to shop with.
What if they get sick. What do I do?
The EVN staff will be in full communication with the students. They will have cell phones and we can get in touch with them immediately if needed. In case a student or Host Family member gets Covid, they will move the student into a hotel.
Do the Students have phones?
Yes, they all usually come with phones, but have to connect to WiFi or use apps to communicate with you since they won’t have normal texting working.
Are we allowed to connect with them on social media?
Yes, but that is up to you and your family. All families and kids involved have stayed in touch with their past EVN students thru social media, so it’s a great tool to use!
