The 2017 edition of the Florida Kraze Krush Care, Prevention & Performance Seminar hosts over 350 athletes and parents!
It was standing room only at this year's Care, Prevention & Performance seminar held Monday night at the Oviedo on the Park's Cultural Center ballroom. Hue Menzies, Executive Director, was extremely pleased with the turnout:
It’s a good sign, it shows we have players and parents that are taking the club and their children's health seriously.

The evening's discussion included experts from Florida Kraze Krush's supporting partners - Orlando Orthopedic Center, Orlando Sports Medicine, Spectrum Sports and Advocare talking about how to recognize, treat and recover from sports injury, dehydration, concussions as well as developing healthy eating habits and the right mindset to achieve personal goals.
For the Medical discussion, one of Orlando’s leading Orthopedic Sports Surgeons at Orlando Orthopedic Center, Dr. Burgess, kicked off the session explaining the nature of soccer injuries, how they occur and how they are repaired. Eric Greeno and Bill Biaggi followed with how Orlando Sports Medicine team helps with the recovery phase and getting athletes back on the field sooner with the proper plan. They also offered free baseline concussion testing for any FKK athlete.
"It was a tremendous turnout at the FKK CPP seminar which is a credit to Hue and all of his coaches for putting together a first class club and providing the best resources for the kids to excel.”

During the Performance presentation, Will Hitzelberger from SSP showed how the athletes trained at FKK today directly correlate to college-level fitness programs throughout the NCAA and National Team programs. Emily Parsons spoke to adopting nutrition habits which was complimented by Advocare representative Jenn Thelen’s discussion on proper hydration for both on-field performance and off-field recovery. Katie Wano brought it home with a challenge to each athlete to adopt a key winning characteristic to improve their mindset - and she gave a list to choose from leading NCAA coaches and what they are looking for in today’s athletes.
A key highlight of the event was the testimonial from FKK's own Darbi Filliben talking to the athletes about her experience with both ACL and concussions and what it took to get her healthy and continue to play at a high level as a club and college athlete.
A lot of information was relayed to the athletes and parents about medical resources available to them, the 2017 Care Prevention & Performance presentation deck can be downloaded by clicking on this link - and will be distributed to each of the Select Team Team Managers.
Many thanks to our sponsors and volunteers for the food and beverages were supplied by Advocare sports drinks and Rock & Brews samples of nutritional meals while dining out.
One of the evening's highlights was the Rock & Brew's Gift Certificate given away to host a team dinner on the patio - the winner - Sophie Jackson of the 98 Krush White team. Congrats and enjoy!!
