Open Your Home. Share Your World. Host a Danish Soccer Student!
February 20 – March 2, 2026

For 14 years, FKK families have opened their homes — and their hearts — to visiting soccer players from the EVN school in Denmark. This unforgettable cultural exchange is back, and we’re looking for families to host our Danish guests for a fun and meaningful 10-day visit. You do NOT need to be part of FKK to participate, so please share this opportunity with friends and relatives who may enjoy the experience!

As a host family, you’ll welcome two (or more) EVN students into your home. Weekends are completely yours — whether that means taking them to your child’s games, exploring local Florida favorites, or simply doing everyday family activities. The students love experiencing real American life and are excited to see anything you want to show them. They’ll also share what they’re curious about, making the experience fun and interactive for everyone.

Hosting is a simple way to make a global connection, create friendships that last far beyond their stay, and give your family a unique cultural experience without ever leaving home.

A Dream Come True: Meeting Alyssa Naeher

By Savanna Smith (2011 Krush ECNL-RL)

This summer, I had the chance of a lifetime thanks to Coach Hue. As a Christmas gift, my family planned a trip to Chicago so I could watch my favorite player — Alyssa Naeher — play one more time before she retires. A few days before we left, my mom mentioned our trip to Coach Hue, and he told her he might be able to help me meet Alyssa since he knew people with the Chicago Red Stars.

On the day we traveled, my mom started getting texts from Coach Hue connecting us with Jenna Bike, a Red Stars player he used to coach, and Ms. Ella from the Red Stars staff. They arranged for us to attend the team’s training session that weekend and possibly meet the whole team. I was beyond excited.

We went to the game that Friday night, and our seats were right on the field. After the match ended in a tie, my mom got a message from Jenna letting us know that training had been canceled — but they still wanted to make sure I met Alyssa. She told us to head down to the bench area. After a bit of confusion and help from Ms. Ella — who even escorted my brother past security — we finally met up with both her and Jenna.

While we waited, we got to meet several Red Stars players as they headed into the locker room. Then Alyssa came over. Jenna introduced me as the goalkeeper from Orlando who played for Coach Hue. Alyssa gave me a hug, talked with me about playing goalkeeper, took pictures, and signed my jersey. She was so kind, and the moment felt unreal.

Meeting Alyssa, Jenna, and Ms. Ella was unforgettable, and it never would have happened without Coach Hue. Thanks to him, I got to meet my idol — and it absolutely made my year.

What’s your favorite memory as a soccer player so far?
My favorite memory as a soccer player was training everyday when I was little. I would do a lot of technical work like juggling, dribbling through cones, moves, etc. everyday after school before training.

What part of your game have you worked hardest to improve?
I have worked the hardest for my effort in every game. I always go into every training session and game with the same mindset which is to give the perfect effort.

What's something you've learned from your coach or teammates this year?
Something I have learned from my coach this year is how to always tactically see the game. This has helped me enhance my defensive awareness and improve my ability to attack up the field.

Do you have any pre-game rituals or routines?
Before every game I listen to the “Eye of the Tiger” song and I read a prayer card. I’ve also worn a red headband every game since I was in second grade.

What school do you attend, and what grade are you in?
Bishop Moore Catholic High School, 12th grade

What are your favorite subjects or classes in school?
My favorite subject is history, especially U.S. History

What other hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
I enjoy hanging out with my friends, going to universal, and reading books.

Favorite hype song or artist before a game?
Eye of the Tiger

Who’s a soccer player (pro or not) that inspires you?
A player that inspires me is Virgil Van Dijk (my favorite center back in the premier league). He is a great leader on and off the field for his team and he is also a very composed/humble player. He has taught me how I can lead my team through my actions and consistently push myself to be 1% better than I was the day before.

What does being part of FKK mean to you?
FKK is special to me because it has not only brought me amazing friends but also provided me with amazing opportunities by improving my skill, mindset, and composure.

What advice would you give to a younger player just starting out in soccer?
I would say to give the same effort in every training and every game. Love for the game will always push you to be better.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I enjoy playing video games.

Coach's Spotlight

Sarah Moore

Teams and roles at FKK: 2009 Krush NPL

How long have you been coaching soccer?
10 years - Goalkeeper Trainer with Orchard Park Soccer Club, Utah Avalanche, Mt. Lebanon Soccer Association, Florida Kraze Krush; Trainer with Mt. Lebanon Soccer Association, East Orlando FC, Florida Kraze Krush; Assistant Coach at Mt. Lebanon High School, Timber Creek High School; Head Coach at Timber Creek High School

Favorite part of coaching:
I love building relationships and having fun with the players. Over the course of a season we can face a lot of highs and lows, so helping players overcome challenges, develop, and push through obstacles that previously held them back is very rewarding.

Coaching philosophy:
My coaching style is rooted in the phrase my parents told me before every game: "Work hard, try your best, and have fun." I do not ask my players to be perfect, just give their best effort and learn from their mistakes. While we always compete for the result, we focus on what we can control and take care of the details rather than win at all costs. Sport provides an opportunity to practice and develop life skills; if we can become better teammates and people on the field while developing tactically and technically, I believe I am doing my job correctly.

Most memorable soccer moment:
Winning the District Championship at Timber Creek High School in January 2025. We battled an extremely talented opponent and it came down to PKs. The way the players competed, maintained their composure, and celebrated together was a result of incredible hard work the past season (and previous two seasons) that will stick with me for a very long time.

Advice for young players:
Let your passion drive you - watch soccer games, look up training videos, kick a ball against a wall, put time into strength or speed/agility training. You can achieve whatever you set your mind to as long as YOU want to put the time and effort in. And balance it all out with other sports, interests/hobbies, and physical and mental breaks!

Fun facts about you:
As a player, I used to be very superstitious with specific routines and meals, but the only pre-game ritual I haven't shed is playing a specific song before every game; usually the song changes for high school and club season, but I need to hear it right before I get out of the car to get in the zone.

Favorite soccer player or role model:
Megan Rapinoe - she has always been authentically herself, is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in, and adapted to roles that helped the team rather than her own interests as her career was coming to a close.

Why you love being part of FKK:
The coaching and leadership staff at FKK take time to get to know you, help you, and want to work together to elevate each member of the club. I am so happy with the growth the club has offered me and the other coaches in my 3 years here - there is no better club!

One word that describes your team(s):

More Than a Roster Spot: The Growth Journey of FKK’s Third Team Players

By Sarah Moore

At a club as strong, successful, and well-known as FKK, almost every player shows up at tryouts with ambitions of making the ECNL or ECNL-RL rosters. Sometimes, players are disappointed to hear they have been invited to the NPL, or third level team, but this is when I get most excited. I love coaching a third level team at FKK because my players get to benefit from all the knowledge and resources of our club that are not offered at any other club in the area. I get to help them take advantage of what the club has without the high stakes and pressure of the first or second teams.

Keeping players committed to the third level teams is a balance between building relationships, maintaining a competitive atmosphere, identifying individual player goals, and mixing in some fun. NPL players are likely not going to have Division I offers, and that is okay! We work hard to identify short- and long-term goals, like making the Varsity roster or challenging for an RL promotion. I talk to my players about fitness, first touch, speed of play, and tactical awareness if they want to accomplish those goals, and we train those pieces every session.

Making sure players stay committed to the team for the entire year can be challenging, but I have found success because of this balance between relationship building and fun. Players on NPL teams may be involved in other sports, clubs, or activities - these players should be able to balance multiple interests! Being flexible with players and their other commitments while still holding them accountable to our team schedule is what keeps players around. Holding players to high standards and expectations of behavior and development while understanding when we need to have a lighter or more fun practice keeps players around. Building relationships with players and families to understand them as people rather than exclusively soccer players keeps them around. I believe in holistic coaching, and I think communicating that we learn life skills through sport to become successful in life after the final whistle blows helps families and players alike buy in.

Will my third team players be the next captain of UF? Probably not. But is it worth celebrating just as much when they make a Varsity roster or get invited to college camps? Absolutely! I think we do a great job of developing players at FKK on the third teams to be successful on the soccer field and moving forward in the rest of their lives.
