Developmental

The Developmental program is for players born in the years 2013 and 2012, to build on skills learned at First Touch. The program intends to produce independent thinkers who are confident and understand the basic technical and mental skills of the game. It is a great way to introduce a child unfamiliar with soccer to the sport or supplement the training of an existing player. Activities will concentrate on technique and fun and sessions will be group oriented.

PRACTICE SESSIONS

Developmental players will be broken up into groups/pools and be trained at different stations – just like the First Touch Program.  Those stations all focus on a higher level of skills such as ball control, touches, passing, dribbling, and simple fitness — all in a fun and age appropriate set up. Sessions will be offered at Central Winds Park in Winter Springs, and Shane Kelly Park in Oviedo under the direction of the FKK professional coaches and site coordinator. Players remain engaged and focused on learning the skills and techniques under the disguise of the fun, creative, and developmentally appropriate activities. Players at this age will practice two days per week.  Depending on which field location you choose, your practice session will either be a Monday/Wednesday or  Tuesday/Thursday (see list below).

WHAT DOES A PLAYER WEAR?

Players should wear proper soccer equipment:

  • shin guards *underneath your socks*
  • soccer socks
  • soccer cleats
  • FKK training uniform (see list below)
  • size 3 ball
  • water bottle or jug

GAMES

All games will be played on Friday evenings at both sites, some nights may be a combination at one site. Matches are played to further player development under the direction of the professional staff. You will be sent an email the day before so you know what color jersey to wear to the games. Players are then divided up into teams on small sided fields.  There is no goal keeper. Each field has a professional FKK coach directing the players/game and one or two older volunteer helpers from the club.  Each week players are moved around to different teams. A parent will be assigned snack duty each week.

WHAT COMES AFTER DEVELOPMENTAL?

Once your player has completed this program, you and your child can decide if you want to go into the Recreational Program — where the teams are coached by parent volunteers. OR You can move on to the Junior Kraze Krush track, designed to advance your player to a higher level of training and game play — with FKK professional coaches.
